Brilliant Product, we used this to make an outdoor cinema by painting a smooth wall and projecting onto it. Surprisingly it worked really well during the day but at dusk it was really good. Highly recommend it.

FAQ's

Outdoor Projector Screen Paint is specifically formulated for outdoor environments with significant ambient light.

Opt for Outdoor Projector Screen Paint in outdoor areas where high levels of ambient light are an issue. Maximise your outdoor space with clear picture quality for events, beer gardens, or home installations. Project football matches, music videos, or marketing ads on external walls or floors, day or night.

The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) measures the extent to which a material absorbs sound energy as sound waves pass through it. In our testing, SAC values were measured for a 12mm gypsum board, a commonly used building material.

SAC values fluctuate depending on the frequency of the sound waves, as different frequencies interact with the material in distinct ways. As a result, the provided SAC values represent a range rather than a single fixed value. Our testing yielded the following results:

Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07
Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

These findings indicate that both the unpainted and painted gypsum boards exhibit the same SAC values, meaning our paints do not alter the sound absorption properties of the material. Consequently, our paints are acoustically transparent, as they do not impact the standard acoustic characteristics of the underlying surface.

3D projectors function by projecting two slightly different images that overlap on the screen. These images are passed through specialized optical filters, polarizing the light differently for each projection. When viewed through 3D glasses, each lens blocks one image while allowing the other to pass through, ensuring that each eye perceives a distinct image, creating a 3D visual effect.

For a 3D projection system to function correctly, the projection screen mustn't alter the polarity of the projected light. Our projection screen paints are polarity-preserving, ensuring that the projected images retain their original polarization. As a result, the full 3D effect is maintained, delivering an authentic and immersive viewing experience.

Blended projections are widely used in art installations, theatres, and large-scale presentations to create immersive and visually engaging experiences. Achieving a seamless and cohesive projection requires a screen that supports accurate colour reproduction, uniform brightness, and optimal light diffusion.

Our projection screen paint is specifically designed to facilitate blended projections, ensuring a smooth transition between multiple projected images. By enhancing colour accuracy and brightness uniformity, our paint enables the creation of a cohesive and immersive display.

For large-scale screens, our paint provides a cost-effective and flexible alternative to bulky and expensive physical screens. With our projector screen paint, any surface can be transformed into a seamless projection area, allowing multiple projections to merge effortlessly for an enhanced visual experience.

The entire selection of our paints is suitable for use with both 2D and 3D projectors, guaranteeing the best performance in any projection mode. When a 3D image is projected onto our paint, it flawlessly conveys the desired effect, resulting in an engaging viewing experience when used with 3D glasses.

Our Projector Paints can be applied using a brush, roller, or spray technique.

Ensure that all surfaces to be painted are clean, dry, and free from any loose debris. Repair any holes or cracks, and sand the surfaces smooth. Ensure you have enough product to cover the area required. New surfaces such as external plaster or wood should be painted with a primer first such as White Primer or a smooth exterior paint.

Please note if the Outdoor Projection Screen Paint is applied to a textured surface like external masonry that is not smooth it will need extra paint as the coverage will drop due to the textured surface. Make sure to stir the outdoor projector paint well before application. Using a short pile sleeve, apply two coats allowing the first coat of outdoor projector paint to dry before applying the second. Wait 24 hours for the best projection results.

Outdoor Projector Screen Paint is suitable for application on plaster, wood, wallboards, metal, concrete, and composites. It is designed exclusively for exterior use.

It is recommended to apply weatherproof outdoor projector screen paint to a surface that has been previously primed or painted. For untreated, bare surfaces, we suggest applying two coats of White Primer.

You can rinse or wash the surface with low-pressure water or wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Smart Outdoor Projector Screen Paint Installation

To start your outdoor projector screen paint project, prepare the surface first. Clean surfaces that have been exposed to the elements, and remove any rough masonry through scraping and sanding. Measure the section you plan to paint, making sure you have enough paint for coverage. For new surfaces like plaster or mortar, apply two coats of white exterior wall paint before adding a single coat of White Primer.

If the surface is ready, stir the Outdoor Projector Screen Paint thoroughly before use. For optimal results, use a short pile roller sleeve to apply the paint, making sure to put on two coats. Wait for the first coat to dry before you apply the second coat, usually taking around 2-4 hours at 20° Celsius.
