FAQ's
General Product Questions
How to make a whiteboard wall?
Choose Smarter Surfaces' best Whiteboard Wallpaper to create a high-quality, non-ghosting whiteboard surface. It's applied just like a traditional wallpaper and works just like a traditional whiteboard, only much bigger.
What options do you have for wallpapers?
We currently offer four types of writable wallpapers, which are as follows:
- Whiteboard Wallpaper: Features a glossy finish with whiteboard functionality.
- Magnetic Whiteboard Wallpaper: Blends magnetic and whiteboard functionality with a glossy finish
- Projector Whiteboard Wallpaper: Offers both projector and whiteboard functionality with a low sheen finish.
- 3-in-1 Wallpaper: It is a versatile option offering magnetic, projector and also whiteboard functionality in a low sheen finish.
What are the different types of markers that are compatible with Smart Whiteboard Wallpapers?
Any high-quality whiteboard markers, like those found in Smarter Surfaces range, can be used.
What direction should I hang my whiteboard wallpaper?
White dry erase board wallpaper can be hung horizontally or vertically, depending on your preference. We recommend hanging the writing wallpaper horizontally to minimise seams on writing areas.
Application & Usage
Can Whiteboard Wallpaper be applied to any surface?
Dry Erase Wallpapers are meticulously designed to work wonders on smooth surfaces, and they are flexible enough to be applied to curved walls as well. However, kindly ensure that the surface is clean, free of any debris or old wallpaper. Also, for absorbent surfaces, a primer is recommended before you actually begin the application process.
Can I use permanent markers on Dry Erase Wallpaper?
No, just like traditional whiteboards, Smart Whiteboard Wallpaper isn’t suitable for permanent markers.
However, if you accidentally use one, then don’t worry. Our Permanent Ink Remover is designed to effectively clean permanent marker stains from your surface.
What is the difference between whiteboard wallpaper and whiteboard paint?
The main difference between whiteboard wallpaper or magnetic whiteboard wallpaper and whiteboard paint is the application method.
- Whiteboard paint is applied with a brush, whereas the whiteboard wallpaper is not.
- One advantage of the whiteboard paint is that there are no joints when you cover a large surface.
- The advantage of the magnetic whiteboard wallpaper is its magnetic function, its speed of installation and its factory standard finish.
Are there different sizes available?
Dry Erase Wallpapers are available in 2m², 5m² and 10m² options.
What glue to use for the best whiteboard wallpaper?
Dry Erase Wallpaper can be applied using a ready-mixed heavy-duty wallpaper adhesive. Simply apply the adhesive to the wall using a roller and then apply the best whiteboard wallpaper.
How to hide whiteboard wallpaper seams?
At the joint, overlap the dry erase vinyl and double-cut right through with a sharp blade. This will minimise the appearance of seams on your whiteboard surface.
Surface Prep & Priming
Do I need to prime the surface before applying Whiteboard Wallpaper?
Priming is only essential for absorbent surfaces to ensure better adhesion. Also, if the surface is uneven, then applying a primer can help create a smoother finish for the dry erase wallpaper.
Functionality & Performance
What’s the gloss level of Whiteboard Wall Covering?
Whiteboard Wall Covering boasts an impressive gloss measurement of 98 GU at 60 degrees, thus delivering a polished and sleek finish.
Cleaning & Maintenance
How should I clean my whiteboard surface?
It's easy to clean a whiteboard surface. All you need is a regular dry cloth or a slightly damp one for cleaning the surface. For attaining the best results, use a standard Whiteboard Cleaning Spray. However, in case of tougher stains, we recommend using Smarter Surfaces specialised Permanent Ink Remover.
Also, during the initial 30 days after installation, we suggest daily cleaning of the whiteboard with the supplied Microfibre Cloth. After this period, a thorough weekly clean using a standard whiteboard cleaner will keep your surface looking and performing its best.
Can I use alcohol to clean Dry Erase Wallpaper?
Frequent use of alcohol on your whiteboard wallpaper can compromise its quality and reduce its lifespan. For best results, use whiteboard cleaning products designed to maintain optimal performance.
How do I remove permanent marker stains?
If a permanent marker has been used, then just try writing over the stain with a whiteboard marker. This reactivates the ink, thus making it easier to wipe it off.
However, you need to wait for a minute or so and then gently wipe it clean, but if this method doesn’t work, then use Permanent Ink Remover. This product is highly effective for removing permanent marker stains, ghosting, and other stubborn marks from whiteboards and whiteboard wallpaper surfaces.
