Customer Testimonials

Customer spotlights and real stories of space makeovers with magnetic wall paint

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply – and the customer service was accessible and helpful so I was delighted to give a review for this whiteboard paint and company! As a teacher you try to present as many different ways as possible to teach a concept and having the extra large dry erase wall helped us to teach concepts, facilitate games and student bonding and write instructions. We have no problem erasing everything with a multi purpose sponge eraser! It has been a HUGE learning tool for our classroom and we are forever grateful.

Turning Complex Workflows into Clear Action

At any one time I work on 8-10 initiatives and your dry erase marker paint has enabled me to better visualize what I need to do. It’s useful for brainstorming and process evaluation, so much so that we’ve recently purchased it for our marketing department. It’s a great fit for our company and a 5 start review for whiteboard paint.

FAQ's

General Product Questions

What is magnetic paint?

Magnetic paint is a special coating that contains magnetite, a fine metal powder. Once applied to a surface such as a wall, it creates a magnetic area capable of holding magnets securely.

What colours does magnetic paint come in?

Magnetic wall paint itself is black, but it can be finished in any colour of your choice. Simply apply the magnetic paint first, then paint over it with your preferred topcoat.

How strong is magnetic paint?

Magnetic paint contains around 55% magnetite, providing moderate magnetism and can hold more than five A4 sheets with one magnet.

What sizes are available for magnetic wall paint?

Magnetic paint is available in two tin sizes: 3m² and 9m². These options make it easy to choose the right coverage, whether you are creating a small feature wall or coating a larger surface.

Which magnets work best with magnetic paint?

For the strongest hold and best performance, we recommend using Neodymium magnets (rare earth magnets).

Application & Usage

Can you paint furniture with Magnetic Paint?

Yes, Magnetic Paint can be applied to most smooth surfaces, including furniture. However, for achieving the best results, kindly ensure that the surface is properly prepared. So sand it down, and fill any imperfections to create an even base before applying the paint.

How to thin out thick magnetic paint?

In most cases, magnetic paint does not require thinning. Occasionally, the paint may settle during transportation. Simply stir it well before use. If it still appears very thick, add 5% water to the tin and then thoroughly stir the contents.

Can I use magnetic paint on wood?

Yes, you can apply magnetic paint on wood, but remember that preparation is the key. Start by smoothing the surface and filling any holes with a suitable filler. Once dry, apply Magnetic Paint.

Can we apply any other paint on top of magnetic paint?

Yes. After applying magnetic paint, you can paint over it with whiteboard paint, chalkboard paint, or any standard coloured paint to achieve a writable or decorative finish. Explore the Magnetic Whiteboard Paint or Magnetic Whiteboard Paint Clear for combined functionality.

Surface Prep & Priming

Should you prime walls before applying Magnetic Paint?

You only need to use a primer on highly absorbent surfaces before applying magnetic paint. For most standard previously painted walls, priming is not required.

Why is it important to apply a primer after using Magnetic Paint?

Applying a primer creates a smooth, even surface while effectively covering the black finish of the magnetic paint. This ensures a flawless final look and it also enhances the overall adhesion of any topcoat you choose.

Cleaning & Maintenance

What is used to clean up magnetic paint?

You can easily clean tools or spillages with water.

Functionality & Performance

How does magnetic paint work?

Magnetic paint is a regular paint mixed with tiny iron or steel particles (often iron powder or iron oxide). These particles are the key.

When the paint dries, those metal particles stay embedded in the wall or surface. Magnets are attracted to these particles. So, instead of sticking to the wall itself, magnets are really sticking to the metal particles inside the paint.

The more coats you apply, the stronger the effect (because there’s more metal in one area). Stronger magnets (like neodymium magnets) work much better than weak fridge magnets.

Does Magnetic Paint cause interference with WiFi signals?

No, magnetic paint does not disrupt your Wi-Fi connection or electronic signals.

How long does magnetic paint last?

Our magnetic paint is built to deliver lasting performance with up to a 10-year guarantee. While exact lifespan can vary depending on use and environment, all of our magnetic coatings are engineered for durability and reliability.

Can magnetic paint hold fridge magnets?

Yes, most magnetic items, including toy and fridge magnets, will adhere to magnetic walls. However, they may not be strong enough to securely hold papers or lightweight items. For that, you need neodymium or rare-earth magnet.

Safety & Environmental

Is magnetic paint safe?

Yes, magnetic paint from Smarter Surfaces is completely safe to use. It is water-based, solvent-free, very low in VOCs, and free from PFOA, PFOS, and isocyanates free. This therefore, makes our magnetic paint suitable for both DIY and professional applications.

When should personal protective equipment be used?

You must wear gloves when using any of our products. Additionally, make sure to wear your safety glasses as well. Also with any other painting process, your room must be well ventilated.

Is Magnetic Paint safe for pacemakers?

Yes, it is completely safe. The magnetic field generated by the paint is not strong enough to interfere with pacemakers or other medical devices. Pacemakers are built to withstand everyday magnetic exposure, so there’s no risk of disruption as such.
